I hope everyone had a great fall break! I know it's been a bit since I sent an update out; my apologies!
Here's a rundown of the week:
~ October 10th is Picture Retakes
~ October 11th is a statewide Fire Drill
~ October 12th is Chick-Fil-A biscuit day in the morning.
~ October 12th is also an Early Release day
~ October 16-20 is conference week! Report cards will be distributed during your conference.
~ Rock Eagle: If your student is planning NOT to attend the Rock Eagle field trip in May, please email me separately and let me know
~ An invite has been sent out to parents about Class Dojo. Most of your students have used Class Dojo in the past; for those of you who are new, Dojo is a behavior/communication application that allows the students to lose or gain points based on behaviors. Once you're connected, you will receive notifications in real time about behaviors (good or bad) that your student is showing.
Students Are Learning
~The students had a great first week of traveling from class to class! Mrs. Resudek taught both classes reading, writing, and social studies, while I taught both classes science, math, and language arts.
~In math, students will be reviewing and expanding on what they know about division. This includes problems such as 6932 divided by 45 (two digit divisors), which is new in 5th grade. They will also learn how to divide using decimals.
~In science, students will be learning about physical and chemical changes. This will involve several fun experiments for the students to participate in.
~In language arts, students are reviewing how to use commas appropriately in sentences.
~ Students will go home with daily math homework (about 5 problems). If they choose, they can take home extension math homework as well. Extension math homework is optional, and will be rewarded with Class Dojo points.
~ All grades will be posted by the end of the week
~New vocab words will go home today, with the quiz on Friday
~The blog www.jcjulian2.weebly.com has been updated with homework, vocab words, my lesson plans, and math/science resources.
I hope everyone has a wonderful week!
