Students Are Learning
Math: We are finishing up our unit on Division of Decimals this week. On Wednesday, we will begin our unit on Fractions, which will be the focus for the rest of the 9 weeks. We will begin with reviewing improper and mixed fractions, and how to convert mixed-to-improper and vice versa
Science: Mrs. Resudek’s homeroom will begin a two-week unit on Physical and Chemical changes. The students will work on several experiments to help them determine the differences between a physical change and a chemical change.
Social Studies: Mr. Julian’s homeroom will begin a two-week unit on the Civil War.
Language: Students will learn how to place a comma after an introductory statement in a sentence.
Reading: Students will be expanding their knowledge of Point of View (first person, 3rd person, limited, omniscient)
Writing: Students will be continuing informational writing; they will also be drafting constructed and extended written responses comparing two reading passages.
~ Students will go home with daily math homework. If they choose, they can take home extension math homework as well. Extension math homework is optional, and will be rewarded with Class Dojo points.
~New vocab words will go home on Monday for Mr. Julian’s Homeroom students. I am changing the dates we test on the vocab words from Fridays to Mondays, to give the students two extra days to study the words.
~The blog www.jcjulian2.weebly.com has been updated with homework, vocab words, lesson plans, and subject resources.
