I hope everyone is safe and that your property/area didn't sustain damage from Irma. In Acworth we didn't have much outside of rain, but I know some parts of Marietta were/are without power.
Here's a rundown of the week:
~IOWA testing begins on Thursday, September 14th. Please make sure your student gets a full night's rest! Testing will last until next Tuesday.
~Chik-Fil-A biscuits (for those that prepaid) will be handed out on Thursday during morning arrival.
~Parent's Night Out will be held at Blackwell on Friday from 6pm - 9pm.
~The 2nd 5th grade car wash in on Saturday at Blackwell from 10am-2pm! Come support the Rock Eagle Field Trip! Tell your friends!
~All of the parents/guardians should have received an email invitation to join my class on ClassTag. Using ClassTag will allow me to streamline communications regarding announcements, updates, and individual behavioral concerns. I will be posting pictures, announcements, etc. using ClassTag. If you have not yet accepted the invite, please do so if you'd like. **At the moment, I only have emails from parents attached to ClassTag. You can also receive by-the-minute updates via text message! If you would like me to add your cell number to the service, please reach out to me.
Students are Learning:
Social Studies: Students will continue their economics projects in Mrs. Resudek's class.
Math: Students will begin a "budget" project in Math that correlates with adding and subtracting decimals! Students will be given a job, a checkbook, and a daily "paycheck" that they will need to balance after taking care of bills, gas, rent/mortgage, groceries, and mall expenses.
Language: Students will be learning about the Perfect Verb Tenses
Reading: Students will determine the theme of stories, poems, and plays based on inferences from the text.
Writing: Students are continuing with their unit on Narrative writing.
Homework, Assignments, Tests:
~Wednesday and Thursday math homework has been uploaded to the blog www.jcjulian2.weebly.com
~New vocab words (not tested until next Wednesday) are also uploaded to the blog
~Resources for every subject, including videos and games, have been updated on the blog
~I've loved getting to know the students and learning their personalities! I have a hard-working, exceptionally bright group this year that is sure to keep me on my toes! I've already found myself having to keep up with them rather than the other way around.
~Students received a new Bulldog behavioral sheet last Friday; these sheets last for two weeks. There are two rows of bulldogs; one bulldog off in a week due to behavior is a warning; two bulldogs off due to behavior in a week is silent lunch (and parent contact), and three bulldogs off in a week due to behavior is an office referral. I do require students to show parents their Bulldog reports every evening; please be on the look-out for them.
I appreciate the support! I've missed the kiddos and can't wait to see them tomorrow!
Have a good evening,
